In any case, the first video is from The Colbert Report. It was a nice surprise and I wanted to share it here and have it on hand for easier viewing. Stephen Colbert, who has excellent taste and who admires R.E.M. as much as I do and he had Michael Stipe on as a bit of a tribute to the band. His guest that evening was Brian Eno - another artist I also absolutely love - and the three of them sang Lean on Me. Stephen Colbert is genius. He really makes what he does look easy.

Maherjunkie gave me the heads up on this. I've been watching the Republicans debate and have wanted to alternately laugh at the buffoonery and scream at my television screen for them to STFU and pull their heads from out of their ass.
The only exception - Jon Huntsman who is a decent fellow, very bright and not insane and in denial about reality. He served as ambassador to China for our current president. The man is not a nutjob like the rest of the panel. I may disagree with him on some issues but basically, he's not stupid enough or crazy enough to gain any traction in the Republican party of today.
By the way, this in no way means I think the Democrats are great. They're not. They have many failings of their own. I just find them to be more acceptable than Republicans. They don't cheer for the number of people murdered in the state of Texas by the death penalty. They don't boo an American soldier serving in Afghanistan just because he happens to be gay. They don't yell "let 'em die" when discussing people who are too poor to afford healthcare in this country. Republicans cheered these things at their debates. They are horrible human beings. They are what is dragging this country back into the dark ages. They are what is wrong with not just America but the world as there are conservatives everywhere.
Posted by alhanablue on YouTube. The song is by Lily Allen. The actual song is called Fuck You (Very Much).

I've avoided the news and politics since moving back here. My ex was so into it and I got wicked tired of his ranting and raving all the time. Both parties suck, we're all getting screwed.
The top video isn't "available in your location". Sadly the second one has an ad across the bottom that is hiding the names or whatever is written there, and the cross to close it down is off the screen. Technology - love it or hate it, it's bound to let you down.
That's true, JoJo. The Who had it right, didn't they? 'Meet the old boss, same as the new boss...'
Sorry about the first video not being available to you. Comedy Central is really weird about that. I'm not sure why they seem to be one of the rare outlets that doesn't allow their videos to be seen outside the U.S. At least they're the only ones people seem to have a problem with. :-/
Thing is, we used to get the Colbert Report, along with Jon Stewart. Then Stewart went weekly and Colbert disappeared.
For the record, I appreciate your political take on things. You have the guts to express your views, and I respect that. And I love the title of the second video, and I concur completely with the sentiment.
