Saw this at Life and Vincent and got it through email from maherjunkie. Please follow through and express your displeasure.
Personally I think the loss of Goren and Eames is a done deal but we can express our displeasure and let Vincent and Kathryn know how much we appreciate them and their work on LOCI and how much they will be missed. As I said before, I love Jeff Goldblum but LOCI is nothing without Goren and certainly so much less without Goren AND Eames.
So write, express yourself passionately but respectfully and let them know what they will be losing when they lose Goren and Eames.
Though the Nielsen ratings will be the true test, I say that those who want to send a message to key NBCU executives should do so. In fact I urge you to write, for yourselves as well as the actors. If enough people (and that is, thousands) take immediate action I don't think the effort will be wasted.

I suggest a short, well-composed postcard (or multiple postcards) rather than letters. Clearly state your displeasure with the decision to dump Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe and your request that the decision be reversed. Three good, focused sentences will more likely be taken seriously than a lot of scribble. Try to stay polite. Don't make threats; don't say anything bad about Jeff Goldblum. ("Watch your back, bitch" is not an option-MJ) Definitely spell and grammar check before sending; and write legibly (or use a printer).
And don't delay. Also, if you post on other CI or VDO boards, you would do well to pass this information on ASAP. If Vincent D'Onofrio really has as many steadfast fans as everyone here thinks, a strong, grassroots effort should be fairly easy to mobilize.

Kitty Update
Well, enough doom and gloom and gnashing of teeth. I have made peace with the fact that USA has killed LOCI. So thought I'd share an update on my Oliver and Leaper, who are still getting along marvelously. I've always wanted cats who cuddle and never had any - despite having three at one time once.
Oliver has grown and you can tell from the photo. Not surprising since he eats EVERYTHING. He was bugging me while I was cleaning breakfast dishes and since we had pancakes, I doubted he would want any. But just to shut him up (even though it's so cute when he meows) I took a small bit and let him check it out and he ate it. lol
So here they are all cuddled up and napping yesterday.

R.I.P. LOCI
Well, I've decided it's probably a good thing for Vincent D'Onofrio and those who are leaving with him to go. The show really has gone downhill after season 7. Some say after season 5 but I liked the change up Leight gave us during season 6 and 7. By then I couldn't have cared less about the perps. I was so much more interested in the lead characters that the case file sometimes just got in the way. lol
I know it was supposed to be about the criminals and the cops were just supposed to be moving the story along. But when you have two superb actors such as Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe playing the lead roles, it's hard to not care about them. They're not over the top or really unlikable like the SVU leads. [This criticism is for the characters. The actors are just doing what they're expected to do. I love Chris Meloni. Am watching him (and Erbe) in Oz right now and he's superb, same for B.D. Wong.]
The irony of all this is that USA is supposed to be all about characters. And yet, they're just dumping three characters for financial considerations. Here's a post I came across last night by BASRIC. I will vouch for her as an honest person - not like some who claim to be experts on a certain forum I no longer frequent who are just pushing an agenda - who has been quite enlightening on the behind the scenes in the past.
What I come away with from this post is that it's nice to know that D'Onofrio and Erbe have a lot of loyalty to each other and to the integrity of their characters, who wouldn't abandon each other either. I know Vincent is the focus of most but the partnership of Goren and Eames has really taken on a life of its own thanks to the enigmatic nature of their relationship.
I also am a little less angry at Wolf Productions for saying no to killing off Ross, Goren and Eames. At least they have some kind of idea of the importance of these characters to the fans. USA - again, most ironically - apparently doesn't care about their so-called character oriented reputation when it interferes with the bottom line.
I wrote USA to complain. Wish I had stopped to save my letter but I was so angry and ready to just tell them what I thought - I didn't swear or froth at the mouth like Glenn Beck, I restrained myself and settled for sarcasm - but since apparently we have similar feelings on the matter, here's a post by BobbyG that pretty much said everything I said or wish I had said. I didn't tell them I'm no longer watching anything on that network - not even Burn Notice, which I love due to Bruce Campbell. I figure they'll dump all of them if they become too expensive anyway.
I encourage everyone to boycott USA. I know I will once my beloved characters are gone. With all due respect to Jeff Goldblum, LOCI was Vincent's show. He has created a good character but needs to be on a show NOT called LOCI. LOCI no longer exists once Goren and Eames are gone.
So good luck to Vincent, Kathryn and Eric. You will be missed.

Conflicted
So it's the end. Vincent D'Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe and Eric Bogosian will all be exiting LOCI at some point in season 9. Found it in my Google Alerts - thanks to the heads up from BobbyG and maherjunkie. I suppose that means the season opener with all of them and then one by one they go? Goldblum is returning. Nicholson is not. So some new nubile young thing will join Jeff. Sad, isn't it? That LOCI should come to such an end?
USA can kiss Vincent's fans goodbye because none of us will continue watching the mess the show has become. Although Goldblum has done a pretty good job with what they gave him. I hope his fans are as loyal as Vincent's are.
I have mixed feelings about this news. On one hand, I'm going to miss seeing Vincent on a regular basis since he has a preference for indie films and while I love indie films as well, they aren't easy to come by and I'll have to wait to find them on the Independent Film Channel. :-/
On the other hand, I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off me as I no longer have to stress over what the awful writers will do to them next season. I am hoping the Goldblum crew are staying and the Walon Green crew will be leaving. Goldblum's writers were so much better.
So I suppose I can just watch and hope the exit is handled well. Once Goren, Eames and Ross have all exited, I'll be done. I am also a huge fan of Kathryn Erbe and Eric Bogosian so if they're on for an episode or two beyond Goren's departure, I'll watch. I like Jeff Goldblum and all but not enough to watch on a regular basis. It's no longer must see TV for me.
I'm sure most have heard the news but just in case, here is the full story. Read and weep or rejoice depending on your POV. I'd post photos but Blogger isn't cooperating so I'll just have to wait to do it later.
Having a weekend off from grandparent duties so will probably complain or rejoice more about this depending on how I end up feeling by the time I post.
I will probably post more on this later but wanted to mention that after a couple of years of not watching House because it was so formulaic and House was becoming more of a curmudgeon than even I liked, it came back with a powerful 2 hour season opener with Andre Braugher as guest star. Andre Braugher and Hugh Laurie gave performances worthy of an Emmy.

The Daily Show Is Back
The Daily Show and The Colbert Report were on vacation through August and the first week of September but they're back and still helping me keep my sanity. Lewis Black is also Back In Black on his little segment. Thought I'd share it with you all. He takes on Congressman Joe Wilson, Serena Williams and Kanye West.
I love Lewis Black. :-) He puts things into great perspective. lol

Weekend Musings
WARNING!!! LOTS OF SWEARING TO SHOW UP SO IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE IT, DON'T READ IT!! !
Let's see, we'll start with the negative. Corporate is coming to visit our little office this week upcoming. They'll be at our place on Wednesday. Everyone is cleaning up to make things look all neat and clean. I'm just watching and I'm hoping when they do show up, it storms. Why? Because when it storms, there's a waterfall in the middle of the office. The front office where customers can see it. We have to have three garbage cans to catch the water. Not kidding.
Also, in the back office where the circulation guys are, it floods. The employee break area is there, too. It sometimes takes three days to have the carpets dry out with fans blowing on it 24/7. No kidding here either.
I'm so fed up with corporate that I hope they have one big collective heart attack if they ever get to see the waterfall. We work in a dump. And they keep asking us to cut hours and do all kinds of stupid things we don't have time for. I'm beginning to feel like it's time to move on but with the economy the way it is, it's difficult to find another job. Also, I don't want to lose my health benefits.
Which leads me to the right wing nut jobs out there who are having their fucking tea parties all over the place. Where the hell were these morons when we were getting in debt to China because of that needless war in Iraq we started? Fucking idiots all of them. One of them had a sign they were waving saying a bunch of crap I don't remember and ending with the declaration "We are not stupid!" Oh yeah? Then why were you guys also holding up signs saying how you love Glenn Beck, that lunatic moron from FIX news? Dumbass morons every last one of them.
People in my little town had one of those tea parties - again. They had one the first time FIX news got people all riled up to have them.
The fucking idiots on the right are getting louder and more stupid. They didn't want their kids to hear President Obama's speech about staying in school and working hard. I suppose they want their kids to get pregnant and drop out like Sarah Palin's spawn? Dumb fucking morons. I would let my granddaughter listen if Dubya spoke. I know they're not going to get stupid from listening to him. Guess people don't have confidence in their own children to trust they won't turn into "socialists" just by listening to the president. Considering how easily they're lead around by the nose by the Republicans and Rush Limbaugh, I suppose they have a point. Not that the message had anything to do with socialism. Fucking morons.
Yeah, I'm mad. I'm sick and tired of the radical right and the politicians who cater to them.
Bite me, Joe Wilson (the asshole who yelled "You lie!" to the president during his address to congress). He apologized for being an ass in a phone call to the White House but now he's refusing to officially apologize to the house and senate because his nut job constituents will probably get mad at him. He's a jerk and deserves to see the death of his political career but there were morons at those fucking tea parties saying "God Bless you Joe Wilson." It's a cultural war, folks. The right wing Bible thumping morons are taking up arms and protesting the progressive, liberals plan to help everyone - including their stupid asses.
I'm done being nice and reasonable. I'm fed up with being nice. I say the Democrats should grow some and kick Republican ass. If they don't then I quit. I refuse to vote ever again if they don't get something done in regards to health care and if they dump the public option or at least a trigger to institute if when the insurance companies screw us over as I know they will. Why bother? One side is closed minded and stupid and the other side has no back bone. So I hope my letters to my representative and senators makes a difference.
Okay, rant over for now. I just am fed up with stupidity. I may have to move because I'm surrounded by it where I live and one day, I'm going to just yell some nasty things and I'll alienate the entire town - except for the handful of liberals who live here.
On the upside...my kitties are doing well. Here are updated photos:
Oliver is twice the size he was when we got him a couple of weeks ago. He's doing very well and he and Leaper are getting along marvelously.
Oh and reasons why I love my husband now include the fact that he's watching Oz with me all the way through and he requested Full Metal Jacket on our Netflix. lol Hey, I get to see Kathryn Erbe and Vincent D'Onofrio in one weekend and it wasn't on LOCI.
Well, I'll stop now before I start swearing again. Am watching the news and there's nothing like seeing stupidity on television to get me going.
Hope you all had a great weekend. Pray for rain in southern Michigan on Wednesday. ;-)

Settling In
So, the new kitty is settling in and he and Leaper are actually playing together. Unfortunately they won't let me take pictures of them - the minute the camera comes out, they stop and run off.
But I do have an adorable photo of Oliver in my lap.
And a photo of the boys having a nap together.
So all is well in kittyland. This is the first pair of cats I've had that are actually cuddly with each other. And they're getting along marvelously. :-)

I told you I'm a sucker for anything with fur
Well, we went and did it. The no more kittens rule was broken really fast. lol That cute little bundle of kitty joy in the previous post is now at our house. He and Leaper, my cat with lots of cattitude, are getting along fairly well.
The kitty has been renamed Oliver. The girl from composing who took him for the weekend renamed him and we rather like the name so we'll keep it. He's just so little and cute. Took him to the vet yesterday and got him his first shot and some worming medicine.
Took Leaper today to get shots. We weren't being very good about his shots at all. Besides, it was worth annoying him. As much as I adore him, he's got no respectful fear of me as all my other cats did. When you threaten to spray him with a water bottle, he squints his eyes as if he was Dirty Harry daring us, "Go ahead, make my day." Then if you do squirt him, he just glares at you afterward, not giving any ground.
So he went and got a booster. He was mad. He growled, he hissed but he was weighed - a healthy 12 pounds - and he got his shot and I brought his whiny little kitty butt home. He retreated to the storage room - which he manages to get into because he's figured out how to open the door. Yeah, one day I'm going to come home and find this cat cooking his own dinner. lol
So both cats are doing well and while Leaper isn't exactly thrilled that the little kitty has taken over his kitty bed, he seems all right about it. He sleeps on my feet. Not my husband's feet. MY feet. I have hot feet. I stick my feet out of the covers just to keep them cool. Why I love him so much I don't know - the cat, not my husband. I know why I love my husband. lol
Here's the first meeting of Oliver and Leaper. It's blurry because it's my camera phone. There's no way these two will let me get my camera and come back. lol

Well, happy Labor Day to all if I don't post again before then. :-)
