No, I'm not talking about Vincent D'Onofrio this time. lol I'm talking about this little kitty, found soaking wet in the downpour we had last Friday by the circulation manager at the newspaper.
He was running across the main road running through town. After almost being hit by two cars, he was huddled nest to a street light. The circulation manager drove into the lot where it sat to get it and take it with him because despite coming across as a crusty bastard, he's a softy deep down inside. The kitty ran under his vehicle because it was dry and because he couldn't get to him there. So Craig, the crusty circulation manager, got out and tried to figure out a way to get the cat, getting himself drenched in the process. Finally the cat jumped up in the wheel well and Craig grabbed him and stuffed him in his jacket.
Both showed up at the newspaper soaking wet. Everyone loved the kitty. He was soaked through as if you dunked him in a bucket of water. They bought cat food, cat litter and box. They got a box with some towels and the girls in composing let him stay in their office.
By the time I showed up at around noonish, the kitty was all dry and cuddled up in Jasmine's lap. Everyone - except the allergic ones and the ones who don't like cats - would wander in there and coo and pet the kitty. He's been named Lucky as he was definitely Lucky that Craig found him and brought him to the office.
There's been a suggestion we leave little Lucky at the paper - since pretty much except for Saturday - someone is always in the office. On weekends, however, Jasmine has volunteered to take him. My husband thinks it's not a good idea to leave the kitty alone at all - even if it is only from about 11 p.m. until 5 a.m.
So, Lucky may be living in my house with Leaper, my spoiled cat who is coming up on his second birthday soon. Cute kitty but I hope things work out and he can stay with Jasmine all the time. Don't know if I can handle another kitten. Leaper is just mellowing out now.
But, again, who could resist that face? I certainly can't and neither can my husband, who is a bigger softy than I am.
Hope you all are having a good weekend. It's cool here, which is fine by me. Spent most of yesterday watching Senator Kennedy's funeral. Cried several times as family members spoke and felt very much in awe of all he accomplished. More so because he was not a perfect human being. He was flawed and there were moments in his life that exposed those flaws very publicly.
But in the end, all the things he's done for this country has overshadowed all of that. He kept to his convictions even though they weren't always popular. He seemed to genuinely empathize and care about those less fortunate, not just pay lip service to it as most politicians seem to do. He is what I wish all people of wealth would be. Wanting to help the poor, not loathe them and treat them as if they were lazy and actually wanted to be poor.
Summer is coming to an end. Kind of a fitting time for one of America's favorite sons to leave us. I just hope we can survive the upcoming cold without him - and I'm not talking about the weather. I'm talking about the cold, hard hearts of those who don't want to see any health care reform in this country. Those who would prefer all the poor people just die so they don't have to think about them and so they can have a "win" over President Obama.
Gonna go listen to some U2 to uplift my spirits a bit. Hopefully this week upcoming will be all good news. Like Lucky found a home - not here, although I can think of worse things than having a new kitten in the house. Or perhaps the Democrats just finally grow some balls and tell the Republicans where they can stuff their 'free market' economics and their attitude towards health care.

R.I.P. Teddy
It's a sad day in America. Senator Edward M. Kennedy has died from brain cancer today. It is a great loss and marks the end of an era. The American people have lost a true champion and I can only imagine the difference he could have made in this whole health care debacle. I'd call it a debate but when one side is talking about 'death panels' and screaming about how the president is a Nazi, it's difficult to actually say it's a debate as much as it's a disgrace to all things intelligent and thoughtful.
So rest in peace Teddy. You have gone to a far better place than we find ourselves in at the moment. Thank you for your lifetime of service and all the benefits I have had in my life because of you and your family. If more of the 'haves and have mores' [Bush's constituency as he described them] were like you, this country would have be a better place today.

Jon Stewart Explains FOX
Saw this last night on my favorite fake news show. lol
Here's Jon Stewart on The Daily Show explaining the moronic behavior of FIX News. I love Jon Stewart. He sees through all the news shows - even the liberal ones! But this is so choice. Bill O'Reilly at his obnoxious best.
Quite frankly, I don't know how any self-respecting news person can go work for FOX. Maybe it's the money? Maybe because they know they can't get a job anywhere else? Because honestly, after you work at FOX, who the hell would hire you? I know if I worked for a news agency and someone had FOX on their resume, I'd toss it in the trash.
Oh and also, I had no idea about this but thanks to Jon Stewart, I now know Project Runway lives!!! Tim Gunn is back! I adore Tim Gunn. Heidi Klum is back, too.
Yeah, I know. I like Project Runway??? Hey, it's my Dancing With the Stars or Biggest Loser. Can't help it. I love Tim Gunn. lol
It's on Lifetime now and I'm just so very happy. Gotta go watch!!! It's about to start and oh my God Tim Gunn is BACK!!!! rofl

Finally! A Democrat With Some Balls!
The right wing moron nut jobs have been showing up at town hall meetings all over the country, yelling and being generally stupid. Talking about death panels and bringing their loaded guns (seriously, talk about being fucked up and stupid). The ones with the guns talk about exercising their Second Amendment rights to carry guns. Well, I have a First Amendment right to free speech but if I screamed "Fire!" in a movie theater, I'd find my happy ass arrested and thrown in jail. Those fucking nut jobs should have had their guns taken away and then shot in the foot. They're too stupid to be carrying loaded weapons, IMO.
Now, all this time, all these Democrat senators and congressmen have been dealing with these nuts asking questions even my granddaughter - age 9 - would think was stupid. They've been trying to calmly deal with it instead of doing what Republicans would do. Turn into Bill O'Reilly and fucking lay into them. I've been complaining that they need to grow some balls and just fuck the Republicans. They fucked with us for eight long years with their "immoral majority" in congress and now we're finally feeling the pain.
President Obama has been way too nice about the whole thing, too. Reaching out across the aisle gets you no where. Republicans don't care what you put in front of them in the end. They don't want health care reform.
So I say just push it through without them and if they don't like it, we can always tell them what they used to tell us when we complained. "Go live somewhere else."
Today, the only Democrat with balls finally stood up to the mass hysteria of the right. Congressman Barney Frank. The one Republicans have been gay bashing since Republican Dick Armey called him "Barney Fag." (Why is it so many Republicans are named Dick? Because they are). Now Rush Limbaugh has been bashing him. No surprise there. Homophobic, racist, misogynist Rush Limbaugh.
Here's a video of Congressman Frank confronting some nut job moron of a woman at one of those town halls. You go Barney!!! If FIX news is upset at you, you're doing something right!
If all Democrats would just tell those step up and confront those morons with the contempt which they deserve, maybe the American public will see just how ridiculous all this fear about health care reform really is.
To my fellow Americans - the ones with brains - I say stand up to the tyranny and fear mongering of the right and tell them to shut up. Listen to reason and try to have a sane discussion over health care. Not this stupid distraction being caused by the radical right.

We Are Selfish and Stupid
Town Hall meetings over health care have proven one thing to me. Many Americans are stupid, selfish and shortsighted. I am fed up with my fellow Americans. Apparently Sarah Palin has a Facebook account and discusses 'Death Panels.' Another stupid thing she's made up. People are actually talking about death panels. They make me want to have one for stupid people. They would all be slated to die. Too stupid to live. Seriously. I'm disgusted and dismayed.
The questions that are being asked by some people are so stupid, I feel as if they're just saying it for the attention. A double-take if you will. Like, did that woman actually say 'take the government out of Medicare?' I mean can anyone be that stupid and survive to adulthood? WTF??? If she were standing in front of me I'd be tempted to slap her to see if her head echoes from the emptiness.
We don't deserve health care reform. We deserve the mess we have and we should all just die. Never mind that the rest of the civilized world seems to have government sponsored health care and they've got longer life expectancy, lower infant mortality rates and generally better health. We like our fucked up system just fine.
Basically, we're AFRAID of any real change. Thank you FIX and all you right wing nut jobs. You've accomplished what you set out to do; scare the population into believing some of the outrageous allegations made by the fear mongers.
Between Glenn (not sure if there's one or two n's in his name, don't really care) Beck and his "Nazi" tree and Rush Limbaugh making up stories about Nazi's (if you're going to accuse at least try and be accurate in your accusations and don't invent things that are blatantly NOT true) it seems the radical right has lost their collective mind. Seems having a black man in the Oval Office, a Hispanic liberal woman on the Supreme Court and the demographics showing that they're a shrinking group composed mostly of people over 65, the radical right is going down fighting. Glenn Beck wants "his America back." You know, Glenn, as Jon Stewart pointed out, so do the Native Americans. Get in line behind them. They've been asking longer than you.
Oh and speaking of the fat head, I need to correct a couple statements and accusations I made about Rush Limbaugh being back on drugs. Apparently he is on some sort of rapid weight loss program. From what I can tell, basically it sucks all the fat from your body and sends it straight to your head.
From what I can tell, by the time we get any kind of 'reform' in our health care system, it won't be much reform at all because we're all too stupid to realize the insurance companies and right wing nuts are trying to keep the status quo, which in the long run will kill us. Literally.
My frustration is also high over the morons who are suddenly worried about our constitutional rights. Where the fuck were you when the Patriot Act came about? Didn't care about your rights then did you? Only when you think it will have some sort of affect on your pocket book do you scream. The deficit didnt' matter while we sent more people to be killed in Iraq than died in the 911 attack that we were supposedly fighting for. It matters now that it's taking away YOUR job and YOUR well being.
Right now I'm feeling very misanthropic. Considering where I live - in the middle of la-la conservativeland - I feel like everyone is stupid and useless. People here watch Glenn Beck and like him. I think I'm going to just stay home until this whole thing blows over or else I will walk up to the next nut job I overhear in the local CVS parking lot saying he likes that Glenn Beck fella and smack him upside the head.
Oh wait, it's county fair week. I'll have to spend one day and one evening walking around amidst the stupid people. Wish me luck staying out of trouble.

And so it ends....
Season 8 of LOCI that is. Revolution was the title, new opening with Eames, Nichols and Ross. I can hear the little gossip/rumor mongers raving over Nichols/Eames and how because of the opening with Eames, Nichols and Ross, VDO will not return and neither will Nicholson and it will be Nichols/Eames. You know it's going to happen right? The rumors I mean. I believe the show would end up in the toilet without VDO and no matter how much anyone may want him gone, it would mean death to the show and the power's that be know that. This is why I tend to avoid forums any more. Well, except Major Case, which is closing. :-( I posted there that I am more upset at the thought that they are closing than I would be at the thought of no more LOCI. I love Vincent and would miss seeing him bi-weekly but this season was so dismal I felt like I was back at season 5. And again, at least that had three most excellent episodes. This one had one pretty good one. And not even the case file really, just the Goren/Eames interaction and the focus on the detectives we want to see, not the stupid perps or suspects.
So Revolution wasn't great, it wasn't spectacular but it was better than the Goren/Eames finale. It's annoying that the G/E writers suck so badly - except for the guy who wrote Ladies Man.
One thing confused me. I thought Nichols was supposed to have an ex-wife and teenaged daughter? He said to Eames at the end of the episode, "This is the reason I didn't have any kids."
Oh well, hey, the Goren/Eames writers turned Joey Frost into Josh Snow so this was a minor detail. Besides, it was never written into any scripts so I am able to disregard the whole thing.
Now the wait for season 9 begins. I have to say, not being enamored of the show helps. I no longer feel anxious about the start. With the lowered expectations that I have, I'm just hoping for a decent season I can enjoy instead of endure as I did season 8.
On another note, the hubby and I are watching Oz from begining to end. We've seen many episodes but not the entire series. Mostly I want to watch the series to see Kathryn Erbe as Shirley Bellinger again. Now that was a great series. Dark and disturbing but gave us a lot of great performances from a lot of great actors.

A Sad Note
It seems the times they are a changing. As most of you know the only LOCI forum I ever visit any more is Major Case because it is the only place a person can go and NOT experience petty arguments and assholes with chips on their shoulders or self-aggrandizing images of themselves that make them think they're 'special.' It's civil, it's honest and respected by Warren Leight and company. Definitely a plus, IMO.
Sadly, Peachy - site owner and administrator, and Stefanl - her trusty moderator and aide, aren't able to dedicate the time required to keep up the site. Peachy is also a mod at the NBC board and will be leaving that post as well.
I haven't been participating as much as I used to either due to real life issues and because even there some people bug me, though they're much better behaved at Major Case than on other sites due to the diligence of Peachy and Stefanl. Now I only go to a couple of fan sites for VDO and KE. Mostly because those sites are pretty much irritant-free.
So now that Major Case is closing I'd like to thank Peachy and Stefanl here on my blog as it will be operating until I die most likely as I never stop having opinions on everything.
Major Case was a great site and a class act. I wish them both well and to all my friends from Major Case, please do continue to visit me here. Mostly because I need someone to tell me what's going on!!! lol I will probably watch season 9 despite my whining and threats not to should the writers for Goren and Eames episodes end up staying on. But I will follow mauigirl's wise way of watching Vincent in things she may not quite care for. Fast forward to all the parts he shows up in and just ignore the plot. lol
Stop by and wish them well if you haven't already. They deserve a lot of credit for a job well done. I don't have the patience to deal with all the things they had to deal with. Nor do I have the time any more. So I understand the decision to close up shop. It still makes me sad.
