Never Trust Anyone Named Dick

No, I'm talking about DICK Cheney this time. Besides it should be common sense to all non-assholes that you shouldn't trust DICK Cheney. Considering the horrendous track record of the Bush Administration, you'd think he would STFU and go away instead of continuing to harp on how he thinks President Obama should fix the mess Cheney and company made.

Ah, but I digress....on to the actual DICK of the moment.

This time it's Dick Wolf. Rumor has it they will be killing off one of the three departing characters. Thanks to BobbyG for the link to this story.

So it seems just letting them go wasn't enough. Since Vincent has mentioned showing up from time to time on LOCI, I assume that means Eames or Ross will die. That's a crappy thing to do but what do I expect from someone named Dick?

The thing is, now that we will have no original writers, no original cast and crappy story lines, how can this be called Law & Order: Criminal Intent? It's really turned into just another cop show.

Sad to see them leave this way. It's even worse than Homicide: Life on the Streets. At least they had a majority of their original cast intact when it went out - granted it limped out but at least it didn't completely self-destruct like LOCI seems to be doing.

While I do like Eric Bogosian's Ross character, if someone has to die all I can say is, it better NOT be Eames. Goren I'm relatively sure will survive from what VDO said in regards to his departure.

Okay, with that little rumor out and about, I'm officially boycotting not only USA but anything Dick Wolf puts out in the future. I am certainly not watching anything he's putting out now. L&O was a great series but really needs to be put out of our misery. SVU has always been unwatchable for me. I had high hopes for it, too. Christopher Meloni, B.D. Wong and Richard Belzer have always been favorites of mine. Nothing they could do could salvage that mess for me.

LOCI was the best of the bunch. It stopped being watchable for me when they brought on that awful Walon Green as show runner for the Goren/Eames episodes. I guess they were hoping to kill off that half of the show at that time. Certainly it made the Nichols episodes look better. And that's not saying much. No offense to Jeff Goldblum. As with Vincent and Kathryn, they could only do so much with what they were given to work with.

I'm so disappointed. Nothing but bad news over at LOCI. I guess Dick Wolf has run out of good ideas.

I have no idea what they think they are doing. I imagine they THINK they are saving money, but surely they must realise that they will be losing it? You throw out the baby, no one's interested in the bath water any more.

My thoughts exactly, Val.

I'm so scared they are going to kill Eames because she seems like the most obvious and well, these writers have proven they aren't the most original ones out there. But I also just don't see why they would do that to Goren, she's like his one solid lifeline -- do they want to completely destroy him? (and the fans?). If I had to choose I'd choose Ross, but still. Either way it just a blatant and unoriginal (is that a word?) plot device to get the two remaining to leave. I just think we're all going to have to make up our endings to get anything worthwhile and happy.

Yep, the 'let's kill off one of the regulars to boost ratings' ploy. And by not telling us for sure who it is just makes it more obvious they want us to worry about it and tune in and maybe miraculously change our mind about not watching beyond the premiere. :-/ Not gonna happen.

Well you could do what ive done and consider Frame to be the real finale with season 8 episodes as a sort of afterthought or coda!None of them were up to what we came to expect for a goren episode.

This finale is being written by Walon Green so expect more of the same....unless they break away from the boring procedural to produce something with dramatic development.

Thing is the decision to appoint a film character actor like VDO to the Law and Order formula was an inspiration. His acting was so different, so intense...in a way that Goldblum has tried to imitate in a lighter entertaining way.It doesnt work for me.It looks like parody. Everything is wooden around Nichols, like they are reading their lines and dont really believe what they are saying.I get that alot from the basic Law and Order series, alot of rushing about that prevents any meaningful acting.

VDO was never like that,so different.Wolf made a decision against his own format to appoint an actor who took LOCI beyond its basic format. He should have had the courage to end it with Goren too.

Sorry to hear about the awful state of your favorite show. I'm still upset over the way Homicide ended, too.

OMG, they're letting Walon Green write the Goren/Eames/Ross exit? There's a good chance it will stink. Or at best be bland.

No wonder they're relying on what Lynnez said - an unoriginal plot device. :-/

Marie,I agree it was sad about Homicide going on too long.Great series when NBC was great. How times have changed!

Val, are you seeing the adverts for season 8 LOCI on Hallmark? They clearly knew exactly what they were doing when they appointed Goldblum. They are pushing him to the front and Goren to the back. There was an awful full page close up of Nichols inside the satellite TV guide. They never did as much advertising with goren when the show started here.

Funny isnt it, all the upfront advertising, all the lobbying on sites etc....and the ratings were still low for Nichols episodes!!I think he looks too old to carry high ratings....the show leans to an average age of 59 apparently, which is the oldest for any USA show. That must worry them.

I see White Collar got 5.4 million for its premiere. Thats the kind of fluffy cop show USA is now promoting.
