Saw this at Life and Vincent and got it through email from maherjunkie. Please follow through and express your displeasure.
Personally I think the loss of Goren and Eames is a done deal but we can express our displeasure and let Vincent and Kathryn know how much we appreciate them and their work on LOCI and how much they will be missed. As I said before, I love Jeff Goldblum but LOCI is nothing without Goren and certainly so much less without Goren AND Eames.
So write, express yourself passionately but respectfully and let them know what they will be losing when they lose Goren and Eames.
Though the Nielsen ratings will be the true test, I say that those who want to send a message to key NBCU executives should do so. In fact I urge you to write, for yourselves as well as the actors. If enough people (and that is, thousands) take immediate action I don't think the effort will be wasted.

I suggest a short, well-composed postcard (or multiple postcards) rather than letters. Clearly state your displeasure with the decision to dump Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe and your request that the decision be reversed. Three good, focused sentences will more likely be taken seriously than a lot of scribble. Try to stay polite. Don't make threats; don't say anything bad about Jeff Goldblum. ("Watch your back, bitch" is not an option-MJ) Definitely spell and grammar check before sending; and write legibly (or use a printer).
And don't delay. Also, if you post on other CI or VDO boards, you would do well to pass this information on ASAP. If Vincent D'Onofrio really has as many steadfast fans as everyone here thinks, a strong, grassroots effort should be fairly easy to mobilize.

I find it perverse when certain people that you and i both know from previous experience on sites Musicwench, and who spent the past few years under various names leading a posse to consistently attack and undermine VDO/Goren, now set themselves up in the opposite direction leading a posse to save him. Its hypocritical to say the least.
HAVE DONE MY E-MAILING TO NBC USA ND BRAVO.
Good luck to you all in your efforts.
Janet -- I couldn't agree with you more.
also this is Basrics inside information about "money" that started the campaign, not the so called insider on another site who now seems to be leading the posse.
Basric is an authentic VDO fan.
Do you think it would be productive if I wrote something on the 4 dozen sets of Futurama postcards I have and mail them in? Afterall, Futurama was canceled for five years before being revived in 4 movies, and will supposedly be fully reincarnated in 22 episodes on comedy central next year. Granted, LOCI isn't being canceled, but mineaswell be. Of course, there is always the dreaded alternative that they would go out like Firefly... But who am I to compare FOX to NBC? Rambing over
All ramblings are most appreciated. :-)
@janethyland
I'm just a lurker (VDO lover) so I have no idea who has done what in the past, or who anyone really is - so forgive my ignorance.
That said...I bounce back and forth between the bloggers and the boards to get my VDO fix.
I don't know who you see as "leading" the posse....some can yell louder than others, but there are a lot of different people on several boards chiming in with ideas and such...its a pretty big group effort. Each "thing" came from different people (postcards from one person, emails from another, Fluff from another...its a lot of different folks).
Please don't lump us all in with whomever this person is....some of us really just love the cast and want to show some support.
Thanks.
janet was just pointing out one person. She wasn't talking about you or me or anyone else who are writing in to support. and it's not that she is criticizing. It's a specific person.
We aren't attacking him. We're supporting him, right? :-)
Well, I have been a bit of a pest lately posting the link to the save goren and eames site...was hoping no one was confusing me for this person since I have been pretty active posting the link. :)
Whomever that person is, they didn't set up the blog...I did that - and I not leading anything! Just....organizing the info.
While I am a HUGE Goren fan, as far as actors... I really fall more in the KE camp...but they are a team so...we will do what we can.
If nothing else, they should know how much we have appreciated them!
Thanks!
Charley
Oh we definitely should let them both know we support them! I'm kind of a cheerleader for both equally. I love Vincent and I always joke that Kathryn is my girl-crush. lol
Thanks for the hard work in helping get the message out. It's definitely not you she was referring to. :-)
Okay, whew, good to know.
If you, or any of the other bloggers in these circles, have any info., links, or anything you want added to the info site please stop by and leave a comment or drop me an email -
naramoonbeam@yahoo.com.
I am new and not very familiar with the places I need to be going to reach the most fans - so all help is appreciated!
Thanks again!
Charley 71, none of my comments were directed at you.
For more information you need to check out The Reel, which is a site devoted to VDO. You will see comments there referring to Elizabeth D'Onofrios blog where she clearly says her brother wanted to leave and did not renew his contract.
There has been artistic dispute over LOCI for years between those who liked the character development of Goren and those who didnt. The bad ratings for season 8 suggest people preferred character development but some sites are vehement in the opposite direction. Those sites tend to be old Law and Order fan dominated.
Im glad VDO is free to pursue his own work as an artist. It was an interesting experiment between him and Wolf and it produced one of the greatest detectives on TV by season 7. It went way beyond the usual crime procedural. By contrast season 8 was boring and repetitive crime procedural work which can be found anywhere.
Since L&O and SVU have both dropped so much in terms of promotion or viewership numbers, I would not be shocked to read this news story "L&O:CI cancelled after 8 seasons" "a 2 hour movie with all regular cast members, Vincent D'Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe, Jeff Goldblum and Eric Bogosian to end the series."
This way USA can put Jeff Goldblum on their precious "White Collar" or another show on USA. If I were more of a Jeff Goldblum fan I would rather see him on another USA show that has more years ahead of it than behind it. I would also rather see him on a show without the L&O name since the perception is that this is probably the last year for any L&O show due to also to the over reliance of NBC on Jay Leno, Dateline, Biggest Loser, and other non-scripted fare. Any way, does anyone think Jeff Goldblum and Saffron Burrows are going to want to do "strictly procedural" L&O episodes week after week for even 3 seasons let alone 5 or 8?
I doubt they would want to do more than a couple of seasons of that even if it did have the possibility of going on.
And as a Jeff Goldblum fan, I agree he should have his own show, not one that saw it's best days before he joined the cast.
As a Vincent D'Onofrio fan, I say no one else can take his place on a show which is HIS show whether or not Dick Wolf or even creator Renee Balcer thinks it's not.
