And so it ends....

Season 8 of LOCI that is. Revolution was the title, new opening with Eames, Nichols and Ross. I can hear the little gossip/rumor mongers raving over Nichols/Eames and how because of the opening with Eames, Nichols and Ross, VDO will not return and neither will Nicholson and it will be Nichols/Eames. You know it's going to happen right? The rumors I mean. I believe the show would end up in the toilet without VDO and no matter how much anyone may want him gone, it would mean death to the show and the power's that be know that. This is why I tend to avoid forums any more. Well, except Major Case, which is closing. :-( I posted there that I am more upset at the thought that they are closing than I would be at the thought of no more LOCI. I love Vincent and would miss seeing him bi-weekly but this season was so dismal I felt like I was back at season 5. And again, at least that had three most excellent episodes. This one had one pretty good one. And not even the case file really, just the Goren/Eames interaction and the focus on the detectives we want to see, not the stupid perps or suspects.

So Revolution wasn't great, it wasn't spectacular but it was better than the Goren/Eames finale. It's annoying that the G/E writers suck so badly - except for the guy who wrote Ladies Man.

One thing confused me. I thought Nichols was supposed to have an ex-wife and teenaged daughter? He said to Eames at the end of the episode, "This is the reason I didn't have any kids."

Oh well, hey, the Goren/Eames writers turned Joey Frost into Josh Snow so this was a minor detail. Besides, it was never written into any scripts so I am able to disregard the whole thing.

Now the wait for season 9 begins. I have to say, not being enamored of the show helps. I no longer feel anxious about the start. With the lowered expectations that I have, I'm just hoping for a decent season I can enjoy instead of endure as I did season 8.

On another note, the hubby and I are watching Oz from begining to end. We've seen many episodes but not the entire series. Mostly I want to watch the series to see Kathryn Erbe as Shirley Bellinger again. Now that was a great series. Dark and disturbing but gave us a lot of great performances from a lot of great actors.

Ditto, as usual.

I've considered buying and watching Oz. For a long time they were super expensive, but I recently saw them at Costco for $16.99...and my store has used copies from time to time, which is even cheaper... Lots of law and order franchise characters in that show over the years. However, I've always been apprehensive about HBO shows... Sex and the City is the only one I really like.

Anyways. Yes. Quite a dismal LOCI season. I did go back and watch the Nichols set of episodes and am sad to say many of them were much better written than the Goren ones... And the season overall was so abundantly repetative of stories they have already done in one way or another. What happened to the days of 'ripped from the headlines'...now we just get 'ripped off of better seasons'... While I would love for there to be hope for better yet to come, I'm passed the point of caring.

The future lies in THE CLOSER on tnt. They've recently introduced a new character being played by Kyra Sedgwick's real life daughter, Sosie. I thought it was going to be very farfetched and ruin it, but so far, I like it. You should give it a shot, if you haven't.

Oh, and though the amor is fading, I do want to finish my fic someday, and am a bit stumped. Care to give it a read and offer a poke or two? I'd appreciate it.

Otherwise...hope all is well, long time, no speaks, I know. But it sounds as though we are equally as busy with personal life and professionally dealing with cutbacks and increased work loads... good times.

Take it easy. Tate

I thought "Revolution" was pretty good. I really would like to see Robert Nathan just take on both teams and see what he could do with G/E since the interaction between N & E seems very natural and far more interesting than what we've seen with G & E. IDK. I guess we will see. I don't even want to hear about the rumors starting. Wolfe is smart enough to know VDO brings alot of viewer and that many other viewers watch because G & E -- I just don't see how it's smart to continue N & E

Is it all about money? Do they get alot more money if they stretch it to 9 seasons?

Major case site had authenticity and was well respected.I will hear those voices from that site long after the site closes...

Hi tate31nym. Great to see you active online again. :-)

I have Netflix, so it makes it easy to see old series. The only HBO show I liked was Six Feet Under. lol Didn't care for The Sopranos and can't stand Sex and the City.

I like Oz. Very gritty and often surreal. Watched the first three episodes so far. Most excellent production qualities along with intense and intriguing story lines. Can't wait to revisit Kathryn Erbe episodes. The woman gives me the chills in a very scary way and so unlike Eames you would swear another actress who looks like her is portraying Bellinger.

Oh and go ahead and send me the fic. I won't promise next day service but it will be better service than I was able to give when I dropped off the online universe. lol A few days at most.

Saw the Closer a couple of times but can't seem to get into it.

Lynne,

Great idea! Let ONE show runner, the better of the two and it's NOT Walon Green, take over the whole thing. Probably will make for a more cohesive show and Ross won't be so schizo from one team to the next.

And Janet, I believe there's some magic number shows have to reach to be profitable in syndication. LOCI and all the L&Os have reached it but I think more episodes means more money. 100 episodes seems to be the magic number. Anything over and above that is gravy.

Tate,I agree with all of your second paragraph and especially the bit about duplication. The whole season is a theme on duplication and its refreshing to hear someone say it out loud cos the fansites are in denial!

Carnivale! Dont forget carnivale...thats HBO and one of the best. What about Deadwood?.
