It's been a while again. Seems my online obsession has gone the way of my LOCI obsession. So I'm still interested, just not on a level that takes up so much time I have no clue how I managed to get anything done in my real life.
So here are a few thoughts that have been on my mind over the past couple of weeks.
First, there's my disappointment that Life on Mars is over after this season. That's tempered with the idea that it only went two seasons in the UK for a grand total of 16 episodes I believe. So we have one more than they did - I heard the number is 17 episodes. Here's hoping it ends as well as it did in the UK version. I'd love to see that one once the American version is over. Don't want to spoil my experience by seeing it first.
The show is marvelous and I'm sad it's ending but then, seeing what's happening to some of my other favorites that have gone on longer than 5 years, I think every show should have a shelf life - hello original L&O? Even the return of Balcer couldn't save it. Shows really should end when they're still great.
I know maherjunkie is trying to help save Life on Mars. Good luck and I'll even help out but if it doesn't get picked up by Sci-fi, I'll be okay with that.
Politically I'm obsessing again because I am just so interested in President Obama and how he handles everything so calmly. He's such a refreshing change from what we had before. And we're constantly reminded of that by the fact that the big DICK won't go away. He keeps talking and really making himself and the Bush Administration look even worse than before. That's quite a feat since I didn't think it was possible.
So as the Republicans slowly disintegrate in front of us - desperately clinging to old ideas that have been proven failures and following the lead of the loud mouth Rush Limbaugh who cares nothing for the country or his party just himself - I say they deserve to fall apart and go away and I'm enjoying watching their demise.
The Republicans went from being a party of fiscal conservatives. Smaller government, etc. They've become a mean spirited hateful party if you follow the fact that they are now kow towing to Rush Limbaugh. Basically, conservative has come to mean selfish (I got mine so everyone else can go die), vindictive (I don't care if there are innocent people on death row as long as the guilty ones fry who cares if one or two are actually innocent? They're probably poor and conservatives really don't give a rats ass about them), outdated (lets continue to harp on no taxes, less regulation when they don't work) bunch of buffoons - take a look at Limbaugh's performance at CPAC.
Everything my father told me about Republicans when I was growing up turned out to be true. Even my husband and his brother, former Republicans, are disgusted with the party. What's happening is all the intellectuals are outraged but are being overshadowed by the neo-cons and evangelicals. It's sad, really. But if they don't have the ability to pull themselves out of it, they deserve it. Just like the Democrats spent so much damn time whining the last two years nothing got done.
Well, things have changed. Barack Obama is on the scene and at least the Democrats have a chance. Republicans can only offer up Sarah Palin, Joe the Plumber and Rush Limbaugh, not to mention Ann Coulter and Laura Ingram. Ms. Ingram is apparently starting to pick on other Republicans who don't tow the line. Of all the people she chose to attack, she attacked John McCain's daughter! And not for her ideas but for being 'plus size.' Good going there Laura. Keep the attention off the important stuff and on the things that really shouldn't matter.
U2 has a new album out. I have to listen to it in its entirety still. But from what I've heard it's another hit for the boys from Ireland.
It's getting warmer and I can feel spring is in the air! I'm thrilled. I love winter but there's only so much snow a person can handle. Especially after living in Hawaii for the first 35 years of my life.
Granddaughters are fighting over who gets to come visit since we've been limited in our visits with them due to someone's health - ours or theirs - over the winter. Think we'll have one of them over next weekend. I'm leaving the choice up to Staci 1.0. Don't want the ones who don't get to come angry at me. lol
Wish I could get more excited about things other than politics. Hopefully with the new season of LOCI about to start - maybe (I don't trust USA or Wolf Productions).
Thanks to all who have emailed me. I'm still here and hopefully will start blogging again soon. This is where you'll find me. Maybe at Major Case but only to visit with old friends. I'm not really into the details of LOCI anymore. Too much information has spoiled things for me. If you do want to discuss the show do email or PM me or something. Major Case is the only place I'll be. The USA site is too busy and the ci-us site is filled with posers. So PM me there or email me. I'll hopefully post about the show here.
Maybe all I need is a good dose of Vincent D'Onofrio and I'll be back in the game. lol

After almost 7 Bobby-less months, I think we're ALL suffering SERIOUS Vincent-withdrawal....
Hi there. I feel sympathetic to many of the things which you've written. Like you, I was on ci sites a lot for a few years and then suddenly dropped out of sight. I haven't lost all interest, it just waned, perhaps due to lack of food! lol. I mean, no VDO movies released, the premiere of ci repeatedly pushed months into the future.
I am looking forward to the new season of ci. And I'm glad that it will be released all at once, making it something to look forward to, a Sunday night appointment show.
I don't understand why some shows continue for so long (e.g. Desperate Housewives, which I lost interest in after the first 2 seasons) and others are cancelled after 1 or 2 years, like Life on Mars.
I myself am lamenting the loss of the show Life (with Damian Lewis, Sarah Shahi, and Adam Arkin). Life has good story lines - both the weekly case and the underlying conspiracy - has great characters and superb writing. Every week I am delighted by it. But I just read in TV guide that it will not continue beyond its second year.
If you get a chance, watch the series. The first season was released on DVD, so I'm hoping ...
And why do the powers that be release DVD's of canceled shows but not of other shows which are successful for years? Hm.
Life on Mars will, I hope, be released on DVD and enjoyed for years to come. I've heard that the ending is upbeat and better than the one in the UK.
Ah, the impoverished lives of us tv watchers, so powerless. lol. I too write my emails, hoping someone will listen.
And at least Dexter has not been canceled. And ci seems intent on continuing for awhile. Being "shipped off" to the USA network is the best thing that could have happened for the show.
Real life? You mean there is life after LOCI? I haven't found it!
Politics...All I know is...We have to change the way we think. We're in dangerous times and it calls for overwhelming measures. President Obama is facing a financial tsunami, it's not going to be solved anytime soon. The Republicans want to scare us back into 'business as usual'...I hope to God we have the guts to stand firm and let the Presidents plan take root.
I can't imagine life without Bobby, but I know the time is almost here. And yes, Diane, I too am suffering from serious Vincent withdrawal....oh well, I am going to have to let do with his movies and rerun of LOCI....
Nice to see some names i know here.
Diane is that you from The Reel?
I dont much like the fansites either,43. There is a lot of troll infiltration of them!
