Random Happy Thoughts

So far so good! President Obama (I love, love, love saying that) has already fulfilled the promise of making steps to close that abomination known as Guantanamo. He's also declared we will NOT torture. The shine is getting brighter on this country now that the dust of all the hateful, dark and evil thoughts and ideas left over from the Bush Administration are being blown away with the wind of change that is now sweeping through Washington, D. C.

You know, my conservative colleagues who have been drinking the nasty Kool Aid served up by the Bush Administration asked me what has Obama done for me that I'm so flippin' happy. My answer is that he has restored my faith in this country. I am proud to be an American again.

I look at the face of President Obama and I see the face of the future of this country. I'm sorry that they can't get on board with it but I suppose if I were someone who lived in the middle of conseravativeland where everyone looked like me, had the same religion as me and the same cultural background as me, I suppose I'd be scared a little, too.

Barack Obama has also given me the sense that this country is finally living up to it's promise. As a minority in this country, I finally feel like we can all be accepted now. Misao doesn't need to change her name to Mildred. It's okay to have an ethnic name. It makes me wish my parents were alive to see this. How far this country has come in just my life time.

I know he can't fix things overnight but we certainly are off to a good start.

Even the winter seems brighter. All the snow that has come and is still hanging around because it hasn't been warm enough to melt yet is okay by me. It makes things look brighter. When I'm feeling like it's warm when the temperature is at 20 degrees Fahrenheit, it's definitely cold! LOL

Here are a couple of photos I took while driving out and about - I stopped when I snapped the photo so no lectures about driving and doing stupid things at the same time ;-) - on Tuesday.

Wall of snow across the street from my community of houses.

Sunset same day.

Actually, snow is good because it makes things look cleaner. Until the green starts sprouting, it's either snow or mud. I'll take snow.

I heard about the Guantonamo thing on the radio this morning and the achor said that Obama said something like "will fight terror, but still stay true to our moral values while doing it"

and I'm like Yes! Thank-you! Finally someone whose morals don't only apply to the people he agrees with...

Certainly is a good start. I hope he starts on climate change soon, 'cos I'm terrified the melting of the icecaps will have gone irretrievably far really soon - unless it alrady has.

I'm quite glad to see that Obama is now the President of the USA. I was so frigging Tired of Bush Blah! Now we need a Prime Minister like Obama In Canada, cause Stephen Harper is just the identical version of Bush and that sucks! But yea I'd rather have Harper as my Prime Minister than having the Quebec Separated from canada...

Was also pleased when President Obama kept his promise right away. Goodbye to Guantonamo and torture...something the country has always opposed.

The snow is beautiful. at 60 degrees I don't think we'll be getting any. I miss our couple of inches of snow each year. When it was zero three days ago it was dry. It goes up to 60 and rains.

I love snow - especially when looking at it from across the Atlantic Ocean ;0)

I'm SO proud of my American cousins for voting for a President with a functioning brain this time.
