New Year Resolutions

I'm horrible when it comes to New Year's Resolutions. In fact, since I rarely manage to stick to them, I stopped making them years ago. I was 30 when I made a resolution to not make any more resolutions and it was the only one I stuck to until now and now I'm breaking that one, too! Ah the irony. LOL

However, I have a good reason. I found a way to make New Year's Resolutions that are attainable. It's not my original idea. I found it here. It's a blog entitled Bitterly Indifferent that I've been following since he wrote about his meeting with Eric Bogosian. The link was posted at Major Case and I couldn't stop laughing. Some of you may have already read it but it's worth revisiting. He also has a blog called Bitterly Books which is also quite humorous.

Here are my resolutions edited and made more reasonable, courtesy of PMJG, the author of the aforementioned blogs.

Your goals are fine, they just need a little reframing.

Save money? Resolve not to buy more than two luxury yachts in the coming year.

Lose weight? Resolve not to gain more than 20 lbs in the next three months.

Not swearing is a challenge, but try to limit it to specific parts of the day. Parts of the day when you'll be asleep. No swearing between the hours of four a.m. and six a.m., and talking in your sleep doesn't count.

Voila, personal development for the person who's too busy for development. Once you get the hang of it, you can call yourself a "personal coach," and charge people $50/hr.

So if you wish to make attainable resolutions, follow his advice and you'll be fine. ;-) And read his blogs, they're fun!

I'd try the weight loss resolution, but if I did gain 20lbs, there wouldn't be a thing I could wear. Anywhere. Including the big girl shops.

Thanks! If you have any other resolutions you'd like to adapt for the coming year, I'd be happy to look at them here in the comments.

I hope you and your family have a great new year! (and that your holidays went well, also)

LOL. those were great. It's true though, you do have to set realistic goals. I've never been much for new years resolutions.

hope you have a happy new year.

Thanks for the good wishes everyone.

I've started my vacation and it's already half over! How that happened I'll never know. LOL

I think I'll stop at the resolutions I've already made. Will let you know when I come up with some for next year, though. :-D

Hope you all have a great New Year!
