My editor asked me if I wanted the job but I immediately said no way. I don't know if she was serious or not but even if she was, there is no way on earth I would take on that headache for the amount of money they would pay. It would also mean I'd have to help out with the sports department and I have absolutely zero interest in that. The most I do for sports is type up bowling scores that get submitted every week.
Still, without an assistant editor, we have to look for someone and those of us left behind will have to pick up the slack. And I like Mark. He was a lot of fun for a conservative. LOL It's not his fault. He was born and raised here. But he's fun and amiable and just nuts enough to fit in well. It's difficult to find people who have just the right insanity about them to work at the newspaper. We've been fortunate to find people like that. Those who aren't tend to leave pretty quickly. Most of us are still there because we like our jobs and the atmosphere. Where else can you wear jeans to work everyday?
On a political note, I've been following the Republican Governor's down in Miami. Sarah Palin is still talking about William Ayers, she's still stupid, she's apparently the one the far right nuts like as opposed to Governor Pawlenty of Minnesota. I rather like him. He seems smarter and is more interested in modernizing the Republican party - which I believe is possible. Just lay off the divisiveness and the hate speech and maybe you'll get your act together. And send that woman back to Alaska. She can try a run in 2012 if she wants to but please go away for a couple of years. The national media seems enamored of her and I don't know why. On Greta VanSustern's show she claims to be a 'feminist, whatever that is.' Great. She didn't know what the vice president actually did and proved it in her one and only debate.
She just doesn't have a clue. Sarah Palin thinks she can get ahead politically just based on strength of personality. She plays to the Republican base who love her. She is just a regular 'gal.' Basically she's Bush in a skirt and we don't need another one of those thank you. Can't wait to see what she does in 2012 and if the Republican party will embrace her and sink to their demise with her or if they will reject her and rise above all the stupidity.
Here's hoping the face of the Republican party will be more like Tim Pawlenty and not Sarah Palin.
Now for fun stuff.
The Hubble telescope capture the following 'fuzzy' photo of a planet.
A dust ring, seen in red, surrounds the star Fomalhaut, which is located at the center of the image, but is not visible. The Hubble Telescope captured a fuzzy image of the planet, known as Fomalhaut b, which is no more than a white speck in the dust ring that surrounds the star. The universe is such a beautiful place. The more we learn and discover, the more certain I am that there is a God and he can be discovered through science. Here's the New York Times article that goes along with that portrait by God.
And of course here's another Vincent D'Onofrio sighting. Some lucky guy running errands around New York City spotted him during LOCI filming. See, we've been reduced to these sightings because there are no new episodes and we don't exactly know when they will be back.
So thanks to this guy for taking the photo for his wife and daughter who are Vincent fans.
Speaking of filming LOCI, here's one of Jeff Goldblum ay work. Love the hat but really would like it if he would wear the glasses. It's been around a while but again, just wanted one for myself. I may have this one already but since we have no new episodes of LOCI I figure these photos will have to do. Yes, I'm still bitter. LOL
And finally, here's a photo of fall in my neck of the woods. This was a couple of weeks ago. Nothing special. I just wanted to remember fall as winter sets in. We had snow this weekend. I miss fall.
Tonight is Life on Mars. Tomorrow I'll review.
