The excuse that they want to start it in 2009 so it will have an uninterrupted run for the entire 16 episodes would have been easier to take if they just scheduled it like that in the first place. But no, they go fuck around with the fan base and confuse the casual viewer who is going to think the show is off the air for all intents and purposes. You know what happens to shows that keep disappearing and moving around? They lose viewers. Sure I and my fellow LOCI fans will stick to it no matter what, but more casual fans and viewers will forget about it. Kind of like I forgot about Alias after a prolonged absence. Hell, Pushing Daisies is a show I loved but it sort of fell off my radar thanks to the writer's strike. [I still support the decision the writer's made to go on strike because the AMPTP were assholes and really gave them no choice. I'm just saying the consequences were that I lost track of shows and now have no desire to try and figure out what's going on.]
And even then it might not have been as bad if they didn't have some forum administrator announce it on the USA LOCI forum but no one bothered to fix the main USA network page nor did they fix the LOCI page on the USA site. The promos advertising a November 7 start were still running after the notice had been posted. WTF?
So today they finally updated the LOCI page. No new promo, just a new date scrawled on top of the new banner. No definite start date posted yet. But why should I expect anything more than a vague, sometime in 2009 date? These people need to take some marketing and communication courses or something because they obviously don't know WTF they're doing.
So no quirky new Zach Nichols, no insights into how Bobby Goren is coping in the aftermath of having his entire life torn to shreds, no meeting Alex Eames sister, no seeing how Megan Wheeler is coping with her fiance - or probably former fiance - being arrested for money laundering, no hint as to the status of Ross and Rodgers. Crap.
I bet we won't be treated to writer interviews this season upcoming either. It would take more effort than USA is apparently willing to extend to this show any more.

I share your reaction.. but I wonder if all the negative reactions we've had or been seeing to the new writers and new detective isn't the reason. Maybe they just want to put some distance between the old LOCI and the LOCI mach 2? It could also be a control or ego issue. Whatever the reason, you're right it is sloppy and I don't appreciate it.

But what also worries me is the fact that yesterday morning, no one in the Criminal Intent Production Office knew about this, either. It had been announced on the USA Boards the night before, but obviously not internally. That is just shambolic. Did Vincent and Kathryn know? Has their filming schedule (and, therefore, the Rest Of Their Life) been messed around with?
I get very upset when I feel like Vincent of Kathryn is suffering from lack of respect or - WORSE STILL - bad manners.

Its a bummer for sure, but the best things come to those who wait, I was looking forward to it though-annoying isn't it when that happens.
