Well since it's official that Jeff Goldblum will be joining the Law & Order: Criminal Intent cast, I welcome you and wish you the best. Thanks for stepping in and I look forward to seeing what you will bring to my favorite show.in a previous incarnation on NBC
I thought I'd put out a positive message to try and balance out the negatives that no doubt will be spewing forth from anti-change folks. Sometimes it gets on my nerves, you know? Sorry the guy will be sharing air time with Vincent D'Onofrio and sorry he's taking over for a departing Chris Noth but HEY, give the guy a chance will ya? His presence in no way will personally hurt either actor. And yes, perhaps there is some thinking that if D'Onofrio leaves Goldblum may be seen as a possible back-up. But quite frankly, I don't think it would work since Goren is one-of-a-kind and can never be replaced, IMO. And if it does work then great! The show can continue to epic proportions and try to compete with the mothership for longest running show ever or whatever. I'm sure either way, when Mr. D'Onofrio decides to leave, he will leave whether or not there is someone waiting in the wings to replace him or not.
This is starting to remind me of all the negative chatter when Eric Bogosian was about to step in Captain Ross. He was lambasted for everything from his being in some Steven Sagal movie to his curly hair.
Sometimes, being a fan and trying to follow all the lines of thinking around the internet does get a bit tiring. I'm even thinking of perhaps following one of my favorite blogging friends, BobbyG, and just not bother reading forums. Sometimes the negativity can really get on my nerves. It seems some fans never heard of a new person who they didn't want to rag on. Lately I've been thinking I'm going to drop the blogs, too, with the exception of those I already visit regularly. They may not like the changes but they're not borderline psychotic. I just keep coming across some people who are just way too negative and seem to be trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.
Ah well, we all have our opinions and I don't blame people for not liking the changes coming about but the negativity towards actors is getting a bit old. They're just living their lives and doing their jobs, you know?
So here's hoping for good things from Jeff Goldblum and for Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
